Ali has spent the last decade in Yorkville, King West and now joins Matthew Jonathan. His focus and talent is in precision cuts and textured hair, colour, colour correction, highlights, balayage and extensions. Ali is praised for his ability to adapt to different hair types and textures. His signature styles range from short bobs to laid-back beachy waves to smooth layered locks. Ali’s talent and versatility have also taken him to many fashion shows including Oscar de la Renta, Marchesa, TIFF as well as local celebrities such as Marylin Denis, Mia Martina and Melissa Dimarco. Ali takes pride in offering an exceptional hair care experience to every one of his clients – a level of service and professionalism that he abides by in every setting. Ali’s favourite pastime: Soccer, skateboarding and having fun with his beautiful wife and twin girls.

Emily has been a professional hairstylist for over 17 years, and specialises in highlighting and low lighting, babylighting, balayage, permanent colour, foil placement for face framing dimensions, cutting and styling. Even with all her experience, she still insists on taking new educational programs. Her motto is practice is consistency, education and knowledge is power. We never know everything but it’s important that we try our best!

Emily’s favourite pastimes:

Cassandra has been in the hair styling industry for over 14 years. Her journey began in 2008, she fell in love with the world of fashion, hair makeovers and colour. She progressed quickly, learning the tips of the trade by working next to some of the best stylists in the GTA. Cassandra has worked with Matthew for over six years now and has been thoroughly equipped with the techniques to produce outstanding Balayage toning, highlights, and solid colour. It’s clear that her keen sense of style and trend awareness enables her to perform fantastic transformations for her clients. Apart from cutting and colouring beautifully, Cassandra is a master at curling and styling hair for a sleek and silky finish. 

Cassandra’s favourite pastimes: Cooking and hosting dinner parties.

Roman is a power house of talent.  His passion and enthusiasm for hair styling and colouring is tangible. His knowledge and experience can be seen in his extensive portfolio showcasing stunning examples of natural looking highlights,  solid grey coverage, bouncy waves of Balayage toning and more. Before working with Matthew, Roman was a stylist and colourist in one of Yorkville’s most prestigious Salons for nearly four years. Roman has been working with Matthew for one and a half years now and has been achieving fantastic results for his clients. Matthew is super proud to announce that Roman has recently been selected to become a L’Oreal Artistic Director, Roman’s clients at Matthew Jonathan Salon will most definitely enjoy the benefits of having a stylist who is a front runner in the industry. 

Roman’s favourite pastimes: Rock climbing, seeking out adventure. 

Sunmola has impeccable styling and colouring skills, and an upbeat skill and energy that sets her apart from the rest. Without fail, she ensures that every client who walks in is happy from the moment they step into the salon. Sunmola has been working with Matthew Jonathan for over 6 years now, and with her fantastic communication skills, she guides clients to their dream hair goals in the healthiest way possible. Sunmola started her career becoming a certified Makeup Artist. After this, she felt a pull to further her skills in the beauty industry and began beauty school and  working closely with colour specialists around the GTA. Sunny has been a cosmetologist for 10 years and continues to stay on top of trendy styles. She is well known for her fabulous hair finishing skills to have each client looking their absolute best.

Sunmola’s favourite pastimes: Makeup application, shopping.

Coming from a family of hairstylists, Lexi embarked on her career at Donato Academy where she excelled in her craft. While at Donato’s she gained valuable experience working with Toronto’s top stylists and honing her skills in the fast paced world of fashion shows, events and weddings. Lexi was chosen from a long line of applicants to work along side Matthew Jonathan. Matthew’s reputable skill for Balayage highlights has been learned and mastered by Lexi, her portfolio speaks for itself. She’s a natural. Her clients love her relaxed and calming demeanour and rave about her work.

Lexi’s favourite pastime: Beach walks, sunsets.

Nataliia has been a welcome addition to the team at Matthew Jonathan Salon for the last year and a half. She is always positive and smiling, and loves to chat with her clients. Her love for hair was born in Ukraine, her home country, where she began her training as a hairdresser. Nataliia later moved to Canada to continue her career as a professional stylist, and graduated from Marca College of Hairdressing. She specialises in balayage, blow outs and haircutting, but also excels in all other aspects of hairdressing!

Bosco has recently graduated from Eikonic Academy, and is passionate about haircuts, styling, and colouring. He shows a tremendous amount of effort in his work at the salon, alongside an enthusiasm to always learn new things; an important trait in a junior stylist! His goal is to get his Ontario Hairstylist License, and our salon is all for supporting our stylists with their career growth and dreams.

Zenobia is the host and manager of Matthew Jonathan Salon, and is passionate about making each client’s experience wonderful from beginning to end. Her warm and welcoming demeanour, coupled with her knowledge of hair services and products, are an asset to the team. She also applies her skills in administration to help ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
