What Is Colour Correction?

Colour correction is the process of correcting, adjusting or completely transforming hair that has been coloured and is not where you want it to be. This could include:

Every colour correction at Matthew Jonathan begins with a thorough consultation. Before we touch your hair, we need to understand:

• Whether box dyes have ever been used (this is critical)
• Any chemical processes your hair has undergone (perms, relaxers, keratin treatments)
• The current condition and strength of your hair
• Your ultimate colour goal

 

Honesty is part of our process. There are times when we will recommend a rest period before proceeding with a correction — not because we can’t do it, but because rushing the process risks damaging your hair. Your hair’s long-term health always comes before a quick result.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

This depends entirely on your starting point and your goal. Some corrections can be achieved in a single extended appointment. Others — particularly going from very dark box-dyed hair to blonde — may require a staged approach across 2–3 visits. We’ll be completely transparent about this during your consultation.
